12 Sensitive Plants You Should Never Water With Tap Water

Carnivorous Plants (e.g., Venus Flytrap): These plants are sensitive to chemicals in tap water, such as chlorine and fluoride. They thrive better with distilled or rainwater to avoid damage.

Cacti: Many cacti species, particularly desert varieties, are adapted to low-moisture environments. Tap water can contain salts and minerals that cause root rot or hinder growth.

Orchids: Orchids are highly sensitive to the chlorine and salts in tap water, which can harm their delicate roots and foliage. Distilled or filtered water is best.

Bromeliads: These plants, especially those in the wild, are sensitive to the minerals and chemicals in tap water. Use purified water to prevent mineral build-up in their leaf tanks.

African Violets: African violets are sensitive to chemicals and salts in tap water, which can lead to leaf spots and growth issues. Use distilled or rainwater for healthier plants.

Ferns: Ferns are particularly susceptible to the chlorine and minerals in tap water, which can dry out or yellow their fronds. Use filtered water to maintain their lush green appearance.

Azaleas: Azaleas require acidic soil conditions, and the minerals in tap water can raise soil pH. Using rainwater or distilled water helps maintain their acidic environment.

Hydrangeas: While hydrangeas are relatively hardy, tap water can affect their bloom color and overall health due to its alkalinity. Softened or rainwater is ideal.
